Biography:
Carolina Aliaga is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, where she has been an academic at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology since 2008.
Carolina obtained her professional degree as Chemistry Professor and Natural Sciences at the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educacion and obtained her Master degree in Chemistry (1995) and her PhD. in Chemistry from the Universidad de Chile (2000). During her doctoral thesis, supervised by Professor Eduardo Lissi, she worked on kinetics and reactivity of antioxidants using stable free radicals. Her post-doctoral research was carried out at the University of Ottawa, where she joined the group of Professor Tito Scaiano to study the generation and low reactivity towards oxygen of carbon-centered radicals, using laser flash photolysis techniques. In November 2005, and under an Insertion Program to the Chilean Government Academy, she returned to Chile to become an associate researcher at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

Research Area:

Currently, her research interests in Physicochemistry are focused on design and evaluation of radical probes, in homo and microheterogeneous media, and their interaction with fluorescent nanoclusters, using spectroscopic techniques such as fluorescence and paramagnetic resonance of electrons, among other techniques.

Latest Publications:

To date, she has published 54 articles in ISI magazines and has communicated her work in more than 100 International Congresses.
