Graduated with a Doctorate in Chemistry: “The resources available at the University were fundamental for my growth as a researcher”
Camila Olguín Choupay, who defended her thesis last Friday, referred to her research and experience in the Doctorate in Chemistry program.
Last Friday, April 12, Camila Olguín Choupay took her degree exam, which took place in the Dr. Claudio Vásquez Auditorium of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology. After the public defense, she became the 154th graduate of the Doctorate in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Chile.
The student's thesis was titled “Arquitectura Superficial a partir de Calix [4]areno derivados; Plataforma para el Control Estérico-Espacial y su Efecto en la Respuesta Electroquímica"and was guided by doctors Jorge Pavez and Claudio Saítz.
Regarding the relevance of the research, Olguín commented that “by understanding how molecules affect the properties of surfaces at the molecular level, new possibilities open up for applications in industry and technology.”
Furthermore, in relation to the promotion of science in society and her thesis, she indicated that “disseminating these findings is crucial to show how science can have a direct impact on our lives and foster public interest and understanding of scientific advances.”
Regarding her experience in the Doctoral Program in Chemistry, Dr. Olguín chose different points to highlight. “The support provided by my guiding professors and the resources available at the university were fundamental to my growth as a researcher.”
She also distinguished personal development opportunities granted by the University. “Participating in conferences, seminars and academic events allowed me to broaden my horizons,” she said.
Camila Olguín closed her experience in the Doctorate in Chemistry with the following message “I’m grateful to have been part of this institution and for everything I learned during my time there.”
